In fact, the trouble that you endure has a purpose: in it you are displaying the reality of Jesus to the world in a unique way. The kingdom of God is most clearly sown on earth when Christians gratefully suffer present trouble because they see a future weight of glory coming that makes everything this world throws at them as "light and momentary afflictions" in comparison (2 Corinthians 4:17)."
Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith… for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, dispising the same, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God -Hebrews 12:2b

I want to grow in my joy…. not the worldly joy of temporary things… new toys, clothes, skis, cars… but in the eternal joy…. joy that is lived despite currently setbacks, trials, and hardships. Jesus gives such a wonderful example of how that is lived as one who endured so much more hardships in this life than we will ever face…. yet he found and held onto true joy and did not settle for the counterfeit.
