According to the commandment, how is the Sabbath to be kept?
By resting and giving rest to others.
That's it. What is not there?... no special ceremony, no requirement to go to church, no offerings, no hand washing, nothing distinctly Jewish.
Have you ever hear oh you keep the Jewish Sabbath? But there is nothing Jewish about the Sabbath it is distinctly non-Jewish. Look at all the other Festivals in Leviticus those are distinctly Jewish but the Sabbath was established before there ever was a Jew. It is for all mankind, it looks backward and forwards.
"The Sabbath rest teaches the greedy heart to be grateful- to stop for one day looking for more, and start gratefully to acknowledge the blessings received." -Samuelle Bacchiocchi, Divine Rest for Human Restlessness
The Sabbath is an effrontery to materialism, to consumerism, to the idea of stuff fulfilling and adding the purpose and meaning to our lives that we seek.
